Custom sliding gates — cantilever and track, with motors

SLIDING GATES IN MONTENEGRO

A sliding gate takes no space in front of the entrance, so it is the first choice for yards on a street and sloping drives. For years of smooth running, what matters is a straight frame, a good foundation and a carriage beam exactly in line — so we lay the foundation ourselves or give your builder exact dimensions.

  • Cantilever gates with no track on the ground
  • Track gates where side room is short
  • Preparation for or installation of Nice and BFT motors
  • Infill in bars, sheet or slats

We work across Montenegro — Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat, Budva, Bar and Podgorica. Measuring is free within 60 km of our workshop in Podi.

TYPES OF SLIDING GATES

01

Cantilever gate

Runs on roller carriages on a beam beside the entrance — no track on the ground, so gravel and leaves do not matter. Needs side room longer than the opening.

02

Track gate

Runs on a track along its full travel. Needs less side room, but the track must stay clean and level.

03

With a pedestrian gate

A pedestrian gate in the same infill beside the slider or built into a pillar.

04

Infill

Vertical bars, solid sheet, slats or a mix — to match the fence and the privacy you want.

WHAT A SLIDING GATE NEEDS

opening + 40–50%

Side room

For a cantilever gate: a 4 m opening needs about 5.6–6 m of clear run along the fence.

foundation

Concrete foundation for the beam

Under the section where the carriages sit; for a track — a concrete strip along the full length.

3–6 m

Most common openings

Wider openings need a heavier frame and a stronger motor.

cable duct

Motor power supply

A duct for the cable from the house to the motor, laid before the concrete.

If there is not enough side room for a cantilever gate, we suggest a track gate or a swing gate.

FOUNDATION, FRAME AND AUTOMATION

Foundation and beam

The carriage beam is set into the foundation in line and level. An error of a few millimetres here is felt every time the gate moves.

Gate frame

Box sections with bracing so the gate does not twist over the years; outdoors hot-dip galvanised and powder coated.

Motor and safety

A rack-driven motor, remotes, photocells and a warning light. More on our gate automation page.

WHAT DETERMINES THE PRICE OF A SLIDING GATE

A sliding gate is priced to the entrance. These things matter most.

We price every job individually. After a free site visit we send a drawing and a fixed price within 48 hours.
  1. Opening width A wider opening means a longer gate, heavier frame and bigger beam.
  2. Cantilever or track Cantilever needs a beam and carriages; a track needs a concrete strip and the track.
  3. Infill Bars are simplest; solid sheet and slats need more steel.
  4. Motor and equipment Motor power for the gate weight, number of remotes, photocells.
  5. Foundation Whether we lay the foundation or your builder does to our dimensions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SLIDING GATES

How much side room does a sliding gate need?

A cantilever gate needs roughly the opening width plus 40–50%, e.g. 5.6–6 m for a 4 m opening. A track gate needs less, about the width of the opening.

Cantilever or track?

A cantilever gate has no track on the ground, so gravel, leaves and ice do not bother it, but it needs more side room. A track gate suits a short run.

Can a sliding gate go on a sloping drive?

Yes — that is its advantage over a swing gate, since it slides along the fence. The beam foundation must be level.

Which motors do you install?

Usually Nice or BFT, as both have distributors and spare parts in Montenegro. We size the motor to the weight and length of the gate.

What if the power goes off?

The motor has a manual key release, so the gate can be opened by hand. Battery-backed models are also available.

MATERIALS AND PROTECTION

By the sea it is the protection that decides, not the thickness of the steel. Before we quote, we ask where the structure will stand and how far it is from the water.

MILD STEEL

The strongest and cheapest option, but only with galvanising and powder coating. Left unprotected on the coast it rusts within a single season.

STAINLESS AISI 304 / 316

For handrails and railings by the sea. AISI 316 where there is salt and spray, 304 for interiors and the inland areas.

ALUMINIUM

Light and rust-free — for lightweight structures and parts that are hard to reach for maintenance.

HOT-DIP GALVANISING

Immersion in molten zinc protects the inside of the profile as well. Powder coating in your RAL colour goes on top.
