Steel doors

STEEL DOORS

We make steel doors for basements, sheds, plant rooms and entrances to yards or buildings. The frame is box section; the leaf is sheet, grille or a combination.

We measure the opening on site and choose the lock, hinges and threshold for the use — a basement door is not the same as an entrance opened a hundred times a day.

Outdoors and by the sea, doors are hot-dip galvanised and powder coated in the colour of your choice.

TYPES OF GATES

01

Sliding gate

For a level drive where there is no room in front to swing leaves. Cantilever or on a track.

02

Swing and double swing gates

For narrow drives or where there is no room to the side for a slider. Needs level ground for the leaves.

03

Pedestrian gate

In the same infill as the main gate and fence, prepared for an electric lock and intercom.

04

Steel doors

For basements, sheds and entrances — solid, grille or combined.

WHAT WE MEASURE BEFORE QUOTING

3 m +

Drive width for a car

For comfortable access we recommend 3.5–4 m.

+ 40–50%

Room for a sliding gate

A cantilever gate needs a run-back longer than the opening.

level ground

Room for swing leaves

Swing gates do not open uphill without special hinges.

posts

Load-bearing

Steel posts in foundations, or anchors into a masonry pillar.

If the yard is still to be concreted, we set the foundation and the motor cable duct before the concrete.

FROM OUR PROJECTS

WHAT DETERMINES THE PRICE OF A GATE

Every gate is made to the entrance, so we price each one individually. Five things matter most.

We price every job individually. After a free site visit we send a drawing and a fixed price within 48 hours.
  1. Type of gate A sliding gate needs a foundation and carriage beam; a swing gate needs stronger posts and hinges.
  2. Width and height A bigger gate means a heavier frame and more steel.
  3. Infill Bars are simplest; sheet, slats and decoration take more work.
  4. Automation The motor, remotes and photocells are priced separately.
  5. Foundation and posts Whether a new foundation is needed or the gate goes on existing posts.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT GATES

Sliding or swing gate?

Sliding where there is room to the side but not in front; swing where the drive is narrow or there is no side room. We suggest a solution for your site at the survey.

Do you install motors?

Yes. We install Nice and BFT motors, or Came or FAAC on request, on new and existing gates.

How long does a gate take?

We send a drawing and quote within 48 hours. Fabrication usually takes 10–20 days, installation one or two days.

Can you make a fence in the same style?

Yes. The gate, pedestrian gate and yard fence are made in the same infill and colour.

Do you make garage doors?

We do not currently make roller or sectional garage doors. We make steel doors for basements, sheds and entrances.

MATERIALS AND PROTECTION

By the sea it is the protection that decides, not the thickness of the steel. Before we quote, we ask where the structure will stand and how far it is from the water.

MILD STEEL

The strongest and cheapest option, but only with galvanising and powder coating. Left unprotected on the coast it rusts within a single season.

STAINLESS AISI 304 / 316

For handrails and railings by the sea. AISI 316 where there is salt and spray, 304 for interiors and the inland areas.

ALUMINIUM

Light and rust-free — for lightweight structures and parts that are hard to reach for maintenance.

HOT-DIP GALVANISING

Immersion in molten zinc protects the inside of the profile as well. Powder coating in your RAL colour goes on top.
